His career, which began in 1988, is defined by his deep involvement in the fundamental pillars of the nation’s financial system. During his 34-year tenure at Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Hossain held key leadership roles in departments including Banking Regulation & Policy Department (BRPD), Agricultural Credit Department, Department of Currency Management, Financial Sector Support and Strategic Planning Department, Governor Secretariat and Human Resources. A developer in modernizing the nation’s banking framework, he spearheaded critical policy and governance initiatives that continue to define the industry’s regulatory landscape. Mr. Hossain’s professional acumen is backed by extensive international exposure and high-level trainings and workshops across Switzerland, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Germany, and Turkey. He holds both his graduation and post-graduation degrees from the University of Dhaka. Furthermore, he earned the prestigious Banking Diploma (DAIBB) from the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh, and completed the specialized Central Banking Course (CBC) in Switzerland, cementing his status as a subject matter expert in monetary policy and financial oversight.
